After the holiday festivities have come to an end—the cake washed out of the carpet, the leftovers finished, the unwanted sweater returned—many of us will reflect on the past year and consider how we can make the next one even better. And for most people, that means self-improvement and a renewed dedication to healthy behaviors.
While New Year’s resolutions are common, data shows they can be hard to maintain. A nationally representative survey conducted by The Monday Campaigns with DDG (Data Decisions Group) found that just over 35% of Americans make New Year’s resolutions. Of those, 20% fall off track by January, and by July, 43% have given up on at least one of their top goals. The most common reasons include difficulty staying consistent, lack of support, and not seeing results quickly enough.
